Welcome to the
Almost Home Animal Shelter
The Almost Home Animal Shelter is committed to:
- sheltering and nurturing lost or abandoned pets while seeking loving caregivers who will provide them with a permanent home.
- being a community educator for the benefit of its pet population.
- providing support to the pet caregivers of our community.
Donations to Almost Home Animal Shelter are tax deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. For further information call (906) 774-1005.
The Shelter offers services, such as finding homes for adoptable animals, providing shelter for stray animals and offering assistance to owners and finders of lost animals.
In addition to its paid staff, the shelter is assisted by the efforts of our volunteers who work with the animals in our care and participate in various fundraising programs.

The Daily News is looking for Pet Ad sponsors, Every other Friday The Daily News has a full page ad for pets that are available for adoption at the shelter. Featured Pets
Desi
Desi is back due to NO FAULT of her own. She is the 3 yr. old spayed Shepherd mix that was born with no tongue. She does perfectly fine eating and drinking. Nothing that a swipe with a towel can’t take care of. She needs to be kenneled when you leave the house so she won’t chew while you’re gone. She needs to have her collar fitted properly so she doesn’t back out of it and run away. She is sweet, active, and very friendly. She is good with children, other dogs, NO cats. Very nice dog for the family!
Loky
Meet Loky, an 8-9 year old black and white front-declawed neutered male who was surrendered by his owner. Although the picture doesn’t quite do its justice, this handsome man weighs in at just over 22 whopping pounds!! He has the sweetest personality and is looking for lots of love and affection in a home. He is good with other cats and would likely be okay with respectful children.
Jasper
This handsome guy is Jasper, a 3 year old tiger and white neutered male who was surrendered by his owner. He is pretty mellow and would love to spend his day laying around getting spoiled with attention. He would likely do well with respectful children, and he is alright with other cats and dogs.
